New controls for how the “Sent by” is displayed with delegated access

January 31, 2020

New controls for how the “Sent by” is displayed for anyone who has delegated access to an account.  Currently when sending, the email says it is from the delegated account but sent by eID@vcu.edu.  Delegated account owners can change this to remove the "Sent by" so it shows it was sent from the delegated account, not by someone else.

Who’s impacted

Anyone that has granted delegated access to their account.

Why you’d use it

To remove the "Sent by" in the "from field" of a delegated account email.

Example: Delegate for info@vcu.edu mailbox communicates with customers, customers will view all responses as info@vcu.edu, without knowing whether they were sent by sally@vcu.edu or jim@vcu.edu.

Getting started

Sent by is ON by default, which will show who sent the email. You can change this parameter by doing the following:

Log directly into the delegated account.

Go to Settings (gear icon) > Account > Grant access to your account in Gmail. "Sender information" is displayed at the bottom. Update Sender information as desired.
